First light through the observation deck
The station let me in without complaint, which was somehow worse than if it had resisted. The outer door still remembers my hand, and the lights along the corridor came up in the same tired order they always have, one dead panel near the junction still skipped over like a held breath.
I went to the observation deck first, out of habit more than reason. The glass has held. Whatever else has gone quiet out here, that much has not failed me.
What still runs
Life support idles at the lowest setting it is capable of. The moss along the hydroponics wall has not asked for permission to spread, and I am inclined to let it keep going a while longer before I decide what it means.
- Primary lighting, most of the ring
- Hydroponics wall, unmanaged
- One vessel, dormant, near the eastern airlock
What does not
The long range array has been silent since before I last left. I am not in a hurry to fix it. Some quiet is earned.
I do not know yet whether I am here to fix the place or simply to sit in it for a while. Either way, the record stands: the station is not dead, only resting, and someone came back to say so.
